Mark’s Farewell to Steward Observatory Concert
Mark Holdaway will play his Kalimba on Monday Jan 29 at Noon, Steward Observatory, UofA
Place: 933 N CHERRY AVE, The University of Arizona,Tucson AZ 85721.—
Dear Music Friend
We’ve got some different things going on in the next month!
I’m doing a farewell concert at the place I work, the 5th floor of Steward Observatory on the UofA campus. My employer, the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) is closing their office there.
Ed Olszewski, the very astronomer who was featured in KXCI’s Segue a few years ago for his dedication to the Dead Air show and who named an asteroid Garcia, as Steward Observatory’s principal promoter of the arts, has set up this farewell concert. Even though I’ve been rather reclusive professionally in Steward Observatory, I have a deep connection with the place and people, for it is in this stairwell that I played kalimba every day, and in these concrete reverberations that I perfected my sound.
I’ll play mostly kalimba tunes, and a few guitar pieces.
Steward Observatory is located at 931 N Cherry on the U of A campus, and the concert will be on the 5th floor (only the southern elevator goes to the 5th floor) Room N 505 A. Bring your lunch! Non UofA people welcome, though parking may be difficult.
Blessings,
-Mark
